(Marietta, Ga. Sept. 2, 2022) The Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO) was awarded a $20,000 Bridge Grant by Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2023. GSO was one of 213 organizations that were awarded 253 grants that provide more than $3.1 million in funding to arts organizations throughout the state.
“We are thrilled and honored on behalf of the GSO musicians, staff, and board to receive this recognition of our programs.” said Georgia Symphony Orchestra Interim Co-Executive Director Susan Stensland. “We are excited to be contributing to the arts and education of our region in such a positive way, as we celebrate our 72nd GSO season.”
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra plans to use these funds to continue enriching, educating, and inspiring the community. Bridge Grants provide operating support funding to organizations across Georgia.
“The arts sector has proven its resilience over the last two years, and it has played a major role in restarting the economy through attracting tourism, bringing communities back together, and aiding classroom learning as we inspire the workforce of the future,” said Georgia Council for the Arts Executive Director Tina Lilly. “The 253 grants we have awarded will help cities and organizations bring people more back to work while enhancing the qualities that make Georgia so special.”
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra is set to begin their 72nd season on September 10th with nine concerts, including 17 evening and matinee options throughout the year. Concerts will feature the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the GSO Chorus and the GSO Jazz ensembles.
