There was excitement in the air as the Georgia Symphony Orchestra kicked off its 73rd Season with a performance that balanced canonic favorites with little heard gems. An Early Grave highlighted music composed by Bizet, Griffes, Mendelssohn and Boulanger, all composers who met untimely deaths far too young.
From the rousing choruses of Carmen, to the mystic incantations of Vielle prière bouddhique (Old Buddhist Prayer), the program was exciting, thought provoking and thoroughly entertaining.
