Georgia Symphony Orchestra Brass Splash

The GSO brought some great numbers to the stage at Marietta Performing Arts Center on September 10 and 11th. They dubbed it a Brass Splash for somewhat obvious reasons, albeit there is a full symphony orchestra onstage.

They started with three short numbers, a couple of which you may not be familiar with. But, Maestro Timothy Verville always gives a brief intro before any piece. They opened with Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to Nabucco, followed by Gustav Mahler’s Blumine from his Symphony No.1, then Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No.7.

And, if you though these three works blew the house down, you were in for one more extremely energetic work, being Symphony No.4 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It got your heart beat pounding.

GSO will also be playing at The Strand and other venues, so check them out at GeorgiaSymphony.org. They always please the house . . .
