In 2004 New York City Opera director Michael Scarola and two-time Grammy Award nominated conductor Timothy Russell cast Adrian in the 25th anniversary performance of Leonard Bernstein's Mass with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, one of the top chamber orchestras in the country.

Her close work with American composers began in 1997 when she traveled to Schladming, Austria to perform Warren Benson's music at the International Conference of the World Association. In 1999 Adrian interpreted the role of Rosina in a semi-staged performance of Ghosts of Versailles in Columbus, Ohio with composer John Corigliano in residence for rehearsal and performance. In 2005 Adrian studied at Songfest in Los Angeles, California in order to collaborate with Pulitzer prize-winning composer John Harbison on his Mirabai Songs. While in Los Angeles Adrian was chosen by opera and art song composer Jake Heggie to perform his own music at a recital of American art song titled "Waging Peace." Heggie is currently composing two new songs for Stephanie.

Adrian holds a doctoral degree in music from The Ohio State University, as well as degrees from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the University of Tulsa. She pursued additional studies with pedagogue Richard Miller at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 2002. Dr. Adrian has taught at the Ohio State University, Kenyon College and Otterbein College. In 2003 she was selected by the National Association of Teachers of Singing to participate in its prestigious summer internship program alongside other top college professors.
