Kenyon Carter, saxophone
Kenyon holds bachelors degrees in performance and music education from Valdosta State University as well as a Master's degree from Georgia State University, in jazz saxophone performance. While studying at VSU he was named "outstanding soloist" at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival. Kenyon returned to VSU in 2000 and 2006 to serve as the jazz saxophone instructor. Currently, Kenyon enjoys sharing his passion for music with students as the assistant band director at Buford Middle School in Buford, GA and as the saxophone instructor at North Georgia College & State University. He has served as the vice president of the Georgia Association of Jazz Educators and is also a staff arranger and rehearsal assistant for the United States Air Force's internationally recognized entertainment troupe "Tops in Blue." In addition to leading the Kenyon Carter connection, Kenyon also performs regularly with The David Brothers Band, The Soul Purpose Band, Kidd Blue, Georgia Symphony Jazz!, Kayla Taylor, Organized Time, and many other well-known Atlanta artists performing jazz in virtually all of its forms... from light background music for cocktail parties to groovin' smooth jazz and R&B for dancing, to hard swinging jazz worthy of the best jazz clubs.
