Bob Bonstein grew up in the Northeast listening to the Beatles, toying with the clarinet, playing Little League baseball, reading vociferously and hoping to meet Mickey Mantle one day. In his teens, he lived in Sweden, traveled throughout Europe and expanded his horizons immeasurably. He met the love of his life, Linda, during freshman year in college when he was unable to see the blackboard in Biology class. Naturally, he needed to copy Linda’s notes. Bob eventually got glasses, and he and Linda married. They raised a family of three wonderful children.

Bob has had a long career in health care consulting, where he worked as a partner for KPMG Peat Marwick and other firms. Over 20 years ago, he was transferred from New York City to Atlanta. After college, his children moved to the Northeast, where mom and dad visit often. Grandson Wayne is a special new delight.

Now, Bob runs his own consulting business and is an active volunteer. Bob and Linda travel relentlessly. And some things barely change: Bob toys with the clarinet, listens to the Beatles – but on his iPod now, sings in choirs, reads vociferously and roots for his favorite baseball team, the Braves. Oh…and Bob happened upon Mickey Mantle in 1995 at the OK Café in Atlanta, where he was able to make eye contact and shake a once mighty hand about six months before Mickey died.

The opportunity to sing with the Georgia Symphony Chorus is a musical challenge and a great joy, and Bob looks forward to joining this special musical community in paying tribute to a variety of formidable composers this season.
